Congratulations! As a graduate student at BBIN电子, you are part of an exciting journey at one of the world's greatest public universities! Graduate study requires high academic achievement that will extend your experience and capabilities within the advanced, specialized areas of your chosen field. The Graduate School is here to help you achieve success in graduate studies and your life beyond graduation.
Graduate study objective
A common objective of graduate studies is to develop the capacities you will need for independent study and research, scholarship and creative discovery. All doctoral programs and most master's programs develop your capacities through advanced course work and through original research under the direction of faculty members who are experts in their fields. While undergraduate students are primarily consumers of knowledge, graduate study is a transition where you learn to participate in the creation of knowledge.
Preparing you for research
For most graduate students, a crucial part of the graduate process involves preparing your research study in the form of a thesis or dissertation and defending it before faculty. In some professional master's programs, the emphasis is on preparing you for professional practice, and although you will develop a thorough understanding of research and research methodology, you may choose a non-thesis option.
We want you to succeed
The Graduate School, Graduate Student Council, and many university partners offer a comprehensive series of lectures and workshops for professional development, research skills development, work-life balance information, and coping with stress or other wellness sessions. Please see the current offerings at the Graduate Student Life and Graduate Student Council portions of the website.
Students pursuing graduate studies are enrolled in the Graduate School and should become familiar with all policies in the Graduate Handbook and the expectations of their specific programs.
All students at BBIN电子, including graduate students, are responsible for following the K-State honor pledge described in the Honor System. Learn more about your responsibilities as a student.
